Jim Houston

I am a veteran of the United States Army where I spent 10 years in Military Intelligence and Special Operations. I was an interrogator and assigned to 1st Psychological Operation Battalion, 4th Psychological Operations Group, 1st Special Operations Command at Ft. Bragg, NC. When I re-enlisted, I was assigned to B Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group. While assigned to Group, I was afforded an opportunity to go through the Special Forces Qualification Course which I completed and was reclassified to 18F.

I was reassigned to 5th Special Forces Group as Desert Shield loomed, participated in Desert Storm and ended my service upon return to Ft. Campbell.

While in the military, I attended the following schools (not a complete list, just the highlights):

US Army Interrogator Course at Ft. Huachuca, AZ

Defense Language Institute at Presidio of Monterey, CA

US Army Airborne School at Ft. Benning, GA

US Army Special Forces Qualification Course at Ft. Bragg, NC

US Army SEER School at Ft Bragg, NC (Camp McCall) – I also taught resistance to interrogation in class room and practical exercise

US Army Pathfinder Course at Ft. Campbell, KY

US Army Air Assault School at Ft. Campbell, KY

US Army Jungle Operations Training Course at Ft. Clayton, Panama

I participated in Operation: Urgent Fury (The US invasion of Grenada), Operation: Golden Pheasant (Repealed Nicaraguan troops on the Honduran border), On-going operations training Contras, Operation: Just Cause (US invasion of Panama), Operations: Desert Shield and Desert Storm (Expulsion of Iraqi troops from Kuwait) and other operations in South and Central America.

Once out of the Army, I attended college and graduate school receiving a Masters in History from Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

I have spent the past 23 years in the IT field working with everything from basic support to network security and virtualization. I currently own a Managed Services Provider company (Gnosys Networks) in Gainesville, FL.
